Charming Bed&Breakkfast in Saint Remèze

If you want to visit the Ardèche then do not hesitate to come and stay at “Les Agrions”

Let’s introduce ourselves

I am Charlotte and it was not always my ambition to run a Bed & Breakfast in a rather remote area of southern Ardèche ! I studied biology and had a professional career in academic research. But life has brought me and Quentin together and here we are now delighted to welcome you to our home! This career change has been a way to meet my need to live close to nature while satisfying my passion for decoration and furniture renovation. I am pleased to welcome our guests to the house that we renovated ourselves and to serve you our delicious home-made breakfasts.
Quentin is a native of the area. He is a “local guy”! He has returned home to his native land and has done what he always wanted to do; take over the family farm and make his own wine. With his older brother Mathieu as a partner, they are the 4th generation to work on the farm. They want to give a new impetus to “Domaine de la Bruge” (developing organic farming, introducing olive trees and wine making in their independent cellar). Our Home

We bought the house in 2018, it was built in the 1800s. Restoring this house which was steeped in history and turning it into a guest house was an obvious choice for us. We have been renovating it ourselves since 2019 using original materials.: exposing stones and bricks and door frames with dressed, solid wooden ceilings. After 3 years hard work, we opened our first 2 bedrooms “Sous l’acacia” and “Côté cour”. We are going to open 2 more rooms this spring: “La terre d’à côté” and “L’Aphyllanthe”. We have other plans for the coming years: a lap pool in a former wine tank, renovation of the silkworm nursery (magnanerie) into a family suite, landscaping the gardens. The ground floor is dedicated to our guests. It consists of a large living room with comfy sofas and a TV, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room and a large inner courtyard where people can relax and enjoy themselves. The house is filled with renovated antique furniture. The decoration is stylish and sleek using as many natural materials as possible. We offer you a warm and friendly place where you can spend your holidays and enjoy the Ardèche. Breakfast is served in the courtyard between 7.30 am and 10 am with home-made jam, seasonal fruit, home-made cakes, fresh fruit juice, pastries, all you need to start the day. Our house is located in the heart of the tranquil village of Saint Remèze, near vegetable gardens on the banks of the creek. All amenities are on the doorstep. A bakery, a grocery, tobacconist, local product shop, restaurants and tourist information are all within easy walking distance. St Remèze is ideally located: 7 min drive from the famous  “Grotte Chauvet” and a 5 min drive from the Natural Reserve of the Ardèche Gorges. You can enjoy the fantastic treasures of our area while staying in a peaceful environment.

Why “les Agrions” ?

Agrions belong to the winged insect family akin to dragonflies “les demoiselles”. This species is sensitive to the water quality so their presence indicates a pollution-free environment and ecosystem. During the first lockdown nature reclaimed the land and the “Agrion de Mercure” has been seen on St Remèze river for the first time just next to our house. This was the inspiration for our name and it lends an air of romance.
